    Reading year 2018

Overall, I’ve had a very good reading year again. My Bookstagram has a list of my favourites from 2018, some of my plans for 2019, as well as musings on the year gone by. Check it out at @booksinboston. https://www.instagram.com/p/BrsJ3rKn4Jr Some statistics Number of books read – 107 Female authors – 48 Male authors – 31 (I read multiple books by some, but only counted them once.) New authors – 55 Rereads – 10 Audiobooks – 4/5 (many of my HP rereads were a combination of Stephen Fry’s audio versions and the actual books) https://www.instagram.com/p/Brkkbu2Hvdj

Why The Hobbit is not The Lord of the Rings and why it doesn’t matter

SPOILERS. DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN THE MOVIE YET. Since The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey hit theatres, I’ve been reading a lot of articles, blogs and comments online about how it has nothing on The Lord of the Rings trilogy that came out a few years ago. That it’s too light, too simple, too funny and generally not befitting a series that has so far been of epic nature. And finally, there’s been much said for and against Peter Jackson and co deciding to convert a small, thin book into three movies. A lot of it is misconception…
