Since 2012, I have worked with authors, independently and through publishers, on fiction and non-fiction manuscripts spanning a range of genres and lengths; with writers and companies on non-literary assignments; and as a football (soccer) editor specifically on longform storytelling.

I’m available for developmental or structural editing and copyediting/line editing.

You can choose one of the above options, or a combination. All my clients will get a package tailored to their requirements (and each package includes one 30-minute video call). Before you sign on to any project with me, I also offer a free sample edit of up to two pages of your work, if you so wish, so that you can get a sense of whether we’d be the right fit for each other.

Developmental or structural editing

You’ve finished writing your book, story, or essay and want big-picture feedback (structure, characters, narrative voice, writing style, pacing etc), as well as concrete solutions and specific suggestions on how to edit and refine the work into its final form.

What you’ll get from me

A detailed editorial letter addressing strengths, weaknesses, areas of improvement, followed by in-depth notes, questions, and suggestions (as required) on each page/chapter.

Copyediting/line editing

There is enough of an overlap between copyediting and line editing—both focus on consistency and coherence and combing through the text line by line, after all—that I’ve included them in the same section. What you choose to get could be a blend of the two depending on your needs. A line edit, in the way I work, is deeper.

What you’ll get from me

Copyediting: a style guide or an updated comprehensive style guide if you already have one, fact-checking, an edit of technical inconsistencies such as typos, grammatical errors, incorrect or missing punctuation, continuity for character and location names or any other relevant information, for plot or backstory timelines etc along with any relevant questions.

Line editing: In addition to everything listed for the copyedit—consistency and continuity in character voices and in writing style; tightening, expanding, and modifying at a sentence and paragraph level for a crisp and smooth narrative flow, rhythm, and dialogue beats; ensuring consistent and believable metaphors and motifs, along with mood and theme; assisting you so that your unique vision for the story shines through.
